Derek – Mushroom Kingdom Guard

Say hello to Derek, the Mushroom Kingdom's most dedicated little guard! Every kingdom needs its protectors, and Derek has proudly taken on the role. Dressed in his signature red and cream, he stands at his post with all the determination a small guard can muster, ready to keep the people of the Mushroom Kingdom safe from whatever comes their way (mostly falling leaves and the occasional snail).

The story behind Derek
Derek was designed by Gwen, the neurodivergent owner and creator of Cosy Burrow. He reflects her previous line of work in private security, and how she sees herself: a moody mushroom. There are moments when she looks into the camera and thinks she's smiling when she actually isn't, but she's still content inside. Derek captures that feeling perfectly.

Gwen calls her mushroom Derek, but your moody mushroom can be any gender, with any name beginning with the letter D. Whatever you call them, they will always guard and protect the people of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Derek is the first of many characters coming to the Mushroom Kingdom, a world we're lovingly building one print at a time. More villagers will be joining him, so watch this space!
